"Try Again"

I love how Beckett constantly uses the phrase "try again." He uses it for any minor mishap and most major ones too. Basically he is never frustrated anymore because he just tells himself to "try again." It's also really funny when he tells mom and dad to "try again." (For example, if we are having trouble getting his shoes on properly.)

Boarding a school bus

A bus was parked at the playground the other day, and Beckett spent more time checking it out than he did playing. That says a lot about just how much he loves buses. Then the bus driver showed up and let him on the bus, and she let him sit in the driver's seat. He thought it was pretty awesome even though he was a little wary of the bus driver. Then we watched all the kids load up on the bus, and Beckett waved and jumped up and down while the bus drove away.

In the same parking lot was a big delivery truck. Beckett went to check that out too and got to take a look inside the back of the truck. The truck driver said he reminded him of his kids at that age. Completely vehicle obsessed and yelling, "truck, truck, truck."

Obviously this turned out to be a very exciting trip to the park. We were glad that the drivers were so nice.

"Nice ta Mom."

After a hair pulling incident in sacrament meeting (done mostly out of curiosity) Nate taught Beckett to say "Be nice to Mom." Now he randomly tells me, "Nice ta Mom." Yes, it's good to be nice to mom.

Chopped

I took Beckett to get a haircut yesterday. His hair was really long and in his eyes all the time, but I loved it. Look at all those curls.
I was hoping to get it trimmed and shaped into a long hairstyle that looked intentional instead of grown-out. The haircut went OK. Beckett actually sat without me holding him, and it was all over pretty quickly. When I got him home and his hair dried however, I realized we had a problem. I didn't take any pictures of the bad haircut, but his bangs were just as short as they are in the picture below and the back was much longer. When Nate got home we decided the bangs and top of Beckett's hair were way too short for the longish hair style and took him back to try and get the rest of his hair to look like it goes with the front. This second go around didn't go so well. Beckett screamed the whole time. We ended up with this:
I'm not crazy about it. I still think the bangs and top of his hair are too short (the second stylist hardly even touched them). And now we have no curls. I miss them. On the plus side, hopefully it will grow out nice and evenly. Maybe it will eventually morph into the style I was envisioning. Or maybe not. I guess now I have to be worried not only about stylists cutting my hair too short, but also about them cutting my kid's hair too short.

Diaper-less

This morning when I got Beckett up he was sopping wet. "It must have been a really bad overflow," I thought. But, when I went to change his clothes, I saw that Beckett did not have a diaper on. No wonder he was so wet. Nate had put him to bed diaper-less. It's amazing that he slept through the night.
